Follow the Trail of a True Story
Step back over 400 years and discover the dark history of the Fewston Witch Trials, a remarkable true story of fear, suspicion and accusations of witchcraft in the Washburn Valley.

Join Yorkshire Haunted History for a guided storytelling walk around Swinsty Reservoir and the surrounding countryside. Based on documented historical accounts, the walk explores the people and events behind Yorkshire's witchcraft trials.

This walk is suitable for anyone who enjoys local history, meeting new people, and families wanting to learn more about the fascinating and sometimes horrific truth behind the witch trials.

The walk covers approximately 3 miles at a steady pace, with regular stops along the route for storytelling and historical information.

We'll follow woodland and reservoir paths, including a short but steep uphill section to Fewston Church, where we'll stop to hear more about the area's history.
Participants should be comfortable walking three miles on varied terrain and tackling a short, steep hill.
