Welcome to the Queens Board Games meetup group. This group is for those who live in Queens County along with surrounding sections of the New York metro area who are interested in board gaming.

Note: Currently, there are multiple sections within this group which meet at various venues. Please be sure to RSVP for the correct section.

VENUE AND TIME ALLOTTED

This section meets at The Clubhouse on Sundays from 4 to 10 PM.

The Clubhouse is a bar and grill located on the premises of the Spring Rock Golf Center located at 377 Denton Ave. in New Hyde Park, Nassau County (near where Denton, Marcus, and Hillside Avenues converge).

For those who drive, there is ample parking. For those commuting by bus, the N22 bus line stops nearby.

Members arrive and leave at various times, therefore there is no obligation to stay for the entire time allotted.

PROTOCOL

This venue is a place of business willing to accommodate our group. There is no minimum amount to be spent, however please provide patronage and refrain from bringing outside food and drink.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If you're looking for a fun and friendly group of people to play a variety of games with, join us for a Sunday meetup at The Clubhouse.

Newcomers are always welcome! Growing up, most of us played children's games (ex: Candyland, Sorry, Connect Four) and classic games (ex: Checkers, Chess, Scrabble, Monopoly). Gaming has truly evolved since then, with an increase in volume of games/categories created along with an increase in complexity and sophistication of rules and strategies. These "modern games" involve a whole other world that you may never heard of, however there will be others who will bring these games and teach you (see list below - you can also go to YouTube to preview and familiarize yourself).

Examples of games played

Gateway games - Rummy Cube, Splendor, Qwirkle, Century Spice Road

Card games – Five Crowns, SKYJO, Phase 10, The Game, Parade, Port Royal, The Gang

Word games - So Clover, Blank Slate, Just One, Sides, One Round, Jibber Jabble, Letter Jam

Introductory strategy games - Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne

Lighter strategy games - Stone Age, Istanbul, Concordia, Rajas of the Ganges

Heavier strategy games – Orleans, The Castles of Burgundy, Terraforming Mars

Bringing your own games is not mandatory, however if you possess any, feel free to bring them as there are always people looking to learn something new or to find a new favorite board game.

Also, please feel free to post in the Comments section regarding which games are being brought and would like to be played.

If there are any questions or issues, please either post in the Comments section or send a private message to one of the event hosts - Michael, Steve Cheng, or Steve Yu.
