Led by Meri Haitkin — an Emmy Award-winning producer, writer, and director whose credits include Project Runway, Top Chef, and other acclaimed documentary and reality series — our unique experience will include: A walk through Manhattan's East 60s and 70s, where Gilded Age mansions stand alongside the flagship boutiques of Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, The Row, and other luxury fashion houses Stops at iconic fashion landmarks that helped define New York style An exploration of the milestones that changed fashion forever, from the origins of Vogue, New York Fashion Week, the Met Gala, and department stores to the rise of Project Runway Stories behind the designers who defined American style, including Halston, Betsey Johnson, Christian Siriano, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Elizabeth Hawes, and others whose work reflected New York's ever-changing culture A look at fashion as a mirror of history, revealing how immigration, war, technology, art, music, and social movements shaped the clothes we wear—and what they say about the world around us See you there! Please bring a water bottle and comfortable pair of shoes as we’ll be doing a lot of walking! \This tour will conclude inside The Pierre Hotel located at Fifth Avenue and 61st Street. \This experience does not go inside any of the fashion houses. About Meri Meri Haitkin is an Emmy Award-winning producer, writer, director, and lifelong New Yorker whose career has been dedicated to telling compelling real-life stories. During more than three decades in unscripted television and documentary filmmaking, she has worked on acclaimed series including Project Runway, Top Chef, 30 Days: Muslims in America, Science Fair: The Series, James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction, and many others. Beyond television, Meri is an experienced New York City walking and food tour guide and a docent at the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD). Through her tours, she combines meticulous research, engaging storytelling, and a deep love of New York to uncover the people, neighborhoods, and cultural movements that have shaped the city into what it is today.
