Jacksonville Reel to Reel Restoration Workshop

Whether you are trying to rescue a box of dusty family home movies or just curious about how magnetic tape works, this workshop is for you. We will be meeting up in Jacksonville to demystify the process of restoring reel-to-reel tapes. I will have a few decks set up to demonstrate proper cleaning techniques, how to safely splice damaged tape, and what to look for when identifying sticky-shed syndrome. It is a hands-on session, so bring any questions you have about your own equipment or specific projects you are currently working on.

This is a low-pressure environment meant for folks who appreciate the mechanics of vintage audio and video gear. We are a community of hobbyists, so please feel free to bring along a reel if you want a second pair of eyes on it or if you just want to see how we handle different tape stocks. We have limited space around the workbench, so it helps to know how many people are coming. If you are interested in joining us, please click the button to RSVP so I can make sure we have enough room and supplies for everyone.
