"1984" graphic novel illustrated by Fido Nesti

Let's read the George Orwell's "1984" graphic novel illustrated by Fido Nesti. The original hasn't been banned (yet) so, in keeping with our banned books theme, let's read the version our school boards are finding "disturbing" due to the pictures which require less imagination to envision (I posted the most potentially objectionable photos in the pictures).

The Duval County School Board has voted to remove its sole copy of a graphic novel adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984, a classic on government control of thought and expression often mentioned in debates about censorship.

DCPS Board Member Ricardo said the graphic novel supplies images that the text-only book requires readers to conjure from their minds.

In urging the board to remove the graphic version by adapter/illustrator Fido Nesti, board member Tony Ricardo cited a September 23 memo from Florida Education Commissioner Henry Mack telling school districts to set stricter rules for reviewing library and classroom books.
