It seems like the Holiday Club, which we are, should do something to honor our Vets. So we chose this date. Discovery Park is the new name the city bestowed on what was a long time US Army base called Fort Lawton. Our route will visit the park, the cemetery, and nearby neighborhoods to provide a 10 K route as well as a shorter 5K route. Yes, it's a Wednesday, but, if it's a holiday for you, please come join us.
Discovery Park North Lot. From I-5: Exit 167 Mercer (NB = left-hand exit). Stay on Mercer, 1.7 miles to end, as it goes downhill, veers right and merges onto Elliott Ave. W. Turn RIGHT onto Elliott, then 1.9 miles to "Emerson St / Nickerson St" exit (note, at 0.5 miles, Elliott will veer right to become 15th Ave. W.). Keep to immediate RIGHT lane for "Emerson St". Go over bridge to stop sign. Turn LEFT (Emerson - unmarked), continue 0.5 miles to end of Emerson - at stop sign at Gilman Ave. W. Turn RIGHT on Gilman and continue as it veers LEFT to become W. Government Way, meandering thru a neighborhood. At stop sign at 36th, proceed straight for 100 feet, and turn RIGHT onto Texas Way, for 0.8 miles to a stop sign. Stay STRAIGHT to North Lot. Metro bus 33 stops directly at North Lot
