Hike at Moraine State Park

For an enjoyable and scenic fall hike that is close to the park office, Sunken Garden Trail offers views of the lake shoreline and travels through a variety of habitats and terrains. We will hike the 3.6-mile loop. If it has rained recently, parts of the trail can sometimes be a bit muddy, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear. The trail is rated easy. Hopefully the trees will be in fall coloration, so bring your camera.

We will go to a local diner afterwards, such as Brown’s Country Kitchen. Bring your water, and dress appropriately for the weather.

Directions: Take Rt 79 North to Exit 96 for PA Rt 488 East, Portersville Rd. Go 1.2 miles and turn left onto Pleasant Valley Road. Go 1.5 miles and veer right to stay on Pleasant Valley Road. The trail parking area is less than a quarter mile past the Park Office on the right.
