Thaxted and Monk Street circular ramble ( approx 6 miles )

Well now me ol scramblers who fancies coming on a ramble around the quintessential village and countryside of Thaxted, Essex which was often featured in the TV series Lovejoy starring Ian McShane. The village is also famous for its striking mix of medieval timber-framed properties and 18th-century Georgian architecture including the Guildhall and the windmill next to the church on the hill. As the route is a mixture of on and off road on dirt trails and tarmac, please wear the appropriate walking, preferably waterproof footwear. Please also bring fluids to keep you hydrated as well as energy nibbles. We'll meet in the long stay carpark in Margaret Street at 1015am for a 1030am start time. The carpark is off the B184 at the north part of the village just past The Swan pub post code CM6 2QN. I believe the carpark is free, all they want is a donation to help with the upkeep ( correct me if I'm wrong though ) Once we've returned to the village your welcome to explore on your own and/or stop at any pub or eatery for lunch or dinner. There's no rush as this is an all-day event ( 1800pm ) or whenever you'd like to go home.
