Looking for experienced backcountry hikers comfortable with off-trail travel, route-finding, loose terrain/scree, and exposure.
STRONG PACE / EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY
This is not a beginner or casual-paced hike. While safety comes before speed, everyone must be able to maintain a strong, steady mountain pace for the entire day.
Our target average is approximately 2 mph when terrain allows, understanding that pace will be slower on steep, loose, off-trail, and technical sections.
Please join only if this distance/gain is comfortably within your ability.
I want everyone to have enough reserve that we can enjoy the mountain rather than just survive it.
~13.2 miles | ~7\,381 ft gain | Class 2

Start: 4:00 AM sharp
sunrise 6.40AM
hard turnaround 11.00AM
back at vehicles 3.30-4.00PM
sunset 4.37PM
We will stay together through off-trail/route-finding sections for safety, but “stay together” does not mean the group will significantly reduce the planned pace to accommodate someone who is not prepared for the route.
If you're unsure whether your experience or pace is a good fit, please message me before joining.
Everyone should have their own offline GPX, power bank, 3L + electrolytes, headlamp, and appropriate backcountry gear.
Late-November conditions will determine whether we go. Snow/ice, unsafe weather, or questionable conditions = postpone or cancel.
Going to Keynot Peak? Ask me anything about it.
I read the organiser's pages and answer in a few seconds.
