What Is the Purpose of Freemasonry?

November's topic will be conducted by Bro. Nathan Hardy on Tuesday, November 10th, from 6:00–7:30 PM, as he asks the question, “What Is the Purpose of Freemasonry?”

From the Ancient Mysteries to the New Jerusalem
Hosted by the Masonic Philosophical Society Hawaiʻi
Universal Co-Masonry — Freemasonry for Men & Women

Synopsis:
What if the true purpose of Freemasonry was never simply to make good people better, but to transform humanity itself?
For thousands of years, the ancient mystery traditions have explored the deepest questions of human existence through initiation, sacred symbolism, and the pursuit of wisdom and spiritual transformation. Freemasonry understands itself as an inheritor of this ancient philosophical and spiritual legacy. But to what end? Is its purpose merely to preserve timeless wisdom, or to actively participate in the renewal of civilization?

At the heart of this exploration lies one of esoteric Freemasonry's most extraordinary visions: the building of the New Jerusalem—a symbolic ideal of humanity united in truth, justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

In this meeting of the Masonic Philosophical Society, we will explore the relationship between initiation and transformation, spirituality and civilization, and the ancient aspiration to build a better world. Can we transform society without transforming ourselves? If Freemasonry’s purpose is to serve all humanity, who is called to undertake its Great Work? And what is Freemasonry ultimately trying to build?
