About the Workshop

What does it look like to care for someone at home after they die? What are our rights, what options are available, and what roles can family, friends, and community play?
Join us for a two-hour interactive workshop exploring the history, cultural significance, rights, and practices involved in home funerals.
Together, we'll discuss our wishes and options and consider how families, friends, and communities can participate in preparing for death and caring for the dead.

What to Expect

An introduction to home funeral rights and practices
Exploration of the history and cultural significance of home funerals
Facilitated discussions about personal wishes, available options, and community roles in pre- and post-death care
A body-shrouding demonstration
A hands-on activity where participants can practice shrouding and decorating a doll
A collective community death ritual

Each participant will also receive an ending care package to take home.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop welcomes anyone curious about home funerals and alternative deathcare practices, deathcare workers, and community members interested in learning more about caring for the dead.
No previous experience is necessary.
