Swinley Forest Halloween Trek 26 m

A cycle ride that's all about the trees and bathing in autumnal splendour. And as it's Halloween there's a sprinkling of spookiness along the way, what better way to lift the spirits. This is a 26 mile off-roader through the forest trials of wildest Berkshire. But don't forget to dress-up your bike for Halloween if you want to join in the fun!

We meet at Martins Heron station at 10am in good time for the train arriving from London at 9.40 so do check the relevant time table before you go. If you are travelling to Martins Heron by train for next week's ride please be aware that the service from London via Twickenham is affected by bus replacements making it impossible to travel there taking a bike. The route from London via Surbiton is working fine so please bear this in mind when buying train tickets. A Cheap Day Return is by far the cheapest option, circa £8.95, so don't buy individual out and back tickets which cost circa £25. Also if travelling from London please use your Freedom Pass for London to Surbiton to get the cheaper ticket mentioned above.

From the station we cycle to Swinley Forest cycle park to experience some of its fun off-road trails. We leave Swinley and head towards Arborfield where we stop for lunch after 13 miles at the Bull Inn, a traditional country pub with an excellent selection of food and a beer garden. After lunch we head back along various country trails to Swinley Forest and to the ride finish at Martins Heron Station at around 4pm. Sunset is around 4.37 so don't forget to bring your cycle lights.
