1. We'll discuss "The Flesh" by David Szxalay Kawakami.-----2025's booker prize winner. (about 365 pages long)

About the book: The novel follows Istvan, a quite, emotionally reserved Hungarian boy, from the age of 15 into the middle age. A relationship with an older, married woman changes the course of his life. Throughout, he struggles with love, loneliness, ambition and the feeling that life is happening to him rather than being directed by himself.

2. Participants are asked to have either read the whole book or at least
one third of it before the meetup.

3. We'll meet on Nov 15th. The meetup is to start at 14:00 jst. The participants are expected to come to the venue a few minutes before we officially start at 14:00.

4. The venue is "Cafe Veloce Karasuma Takoyakushi" a big coffee shop near to Shijo Subway Station. It is alongside Karasuma-dohri (Karasuma Street).

5. What to discuss: our discussion will start off on discussion points(questions) related to the story\, which are pre-prepared by the organizer/co-organizer. Then we will move on to your general impression of the story\, like what parts were difficult to understand\, how you liked the story\, and so on. Our discussion will be entirely conducted in English.

6. After you sign up for the meetup\, please try to get you copy of the book at your earliest convenience. And also please make sure that you will be available on that afternoon. Please also write to the organizer/co-organizer to let them know your wish to attend\, especially if you don’t know how to get to the venue. Here is the email address: "[email protected]"
