Heublein Tower and West Hartford Reservoir 6 Hike

Nice Fall Foliage hike around beautiful West Hartford MDC6 Reservoir and up to Heublein Tower on the Metacomet Trail. Amazing Views from Heublein Tower! Intermediate level difficulty but with a Faster Pace!

Our hike coincides with the Tower Tout festival up at Heublein Tower with food vendors and music, so we will spend a little extra time at the Tower.

Approximate Pace: 3 mph around reservoir and 2.5 mph on trail up to tower

The hike begins around the very lovely reservoir with beautiful views looking across the water on a mostly flat wide gravel/dirt path which is approximately 3.6 miles long. We will then proceed up the Metacomet Trail to the Tower which will be around 1.5 miles each way for a total of 3 miles and 700 feet elevation gain. Beautiful views await at the top along the ridge and even more expansive views from the Tower! Intermediate level difficulty hike but we will have a faster pace.

NOTE: Do NOT park in the first lot when you pull in. Proceed through that lot and continue on the road along the reservoir about a mile until you reach the back lot near the big green water tanks.
