Social. Sea and Downs

A 40 mile circular ride with some hills before lunch; total assent is 500m. Its mainly on the road, with the last 8 miles on the Downs link. Meet 10.00am, at the East side of Shoreham wooden toll bridge. We'll ride 10 miles East along the coast (perfectly flat) to coffee at Temple. The route continues for 13 miles: through Ovingdean and a climb up to Woodingdean, through Stanmer Park and climbs again to the peak of the ride for great views at Ditchling Beacon. We then head Northwest (and mainly downhilll) to Hassocks and lunch at The Thatched Inn. After lunch it’s 16 miles return to Shoreham through Albourne, turning South down Blackstone Lane and joining the Downs Link at Henfield back to the wooden bridge. Please ensure that your bike is roadworthy and you have sufficient equipment to make minor repairs such as a puncture. All participants are ultimately responsible for their own safety and should be aware that the medical / first aid provisions are no different from if they were riding on their own or informally with friends.
