Salam All,
We will be discussing the book by Jason Hickel, the anthropologist , The Divide (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JasonHickel)

In the current world we are living in where often we may feel lost in understanding how issues such as growing inequality between Northern and Western hemispheres and Global south, frequent wars are occurring and confusing or contradictory media information that doesn’t reflect reality.

This book aims to clear the confusion and understand the underlying causes of issues from which we can then know where to act from.

In order to know where to go/do in our lives we need to understand where we are standing

“For decades we have been told a story: that poverty is a natural phenomenon and will be eradicated through aid. It is a comforting tale, but it ignores the broader political forces at play. Poor countries are poor because they are integrated into the global economic system on unequal terms, and aid only helps to hide this. The Divide tracks the evolution of global inequality – from the expeditions of Christopher Columbus to the present day – offering a provocative, urgent and ultimately uplifting account of how the world works, and how we can change it for the better.”
