About:
The Aundha and Patta forts form a spectacular historic ridge in Maharashtra's Western Ghats, standing as the ultimate gateway to the rugged beauty of the Sahyadri range. This expedition kicks off with Patta Fort (Vishramgad), featuring a massive, wind-swept plateau famous for its towering modern windmill farm, panoramic sunset views, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's historic 1679 campsite. Connected by a single mountain ridge stands Aundha Fort, a dramatic volcanic cone featuring a thrilling rock scramble to its emerald needle peak, offering unmatched views of the vast green valleys below.
Transitioning from mountain grit to ancient wonder, the journey drops into the historic plains of Sinnar and Nashik. Trekkers will explore the architectural marvel of the 11th-century Hemadpanthi Gondeshwar Temple and the 24 ancient rock-cut Buddhist sanctuaries of the Pandav Leni Caves. The weekend wraps up beautifully with a local, budget-friendly auto-rickshaw exploration through the spiritual heart of Panchavati, Ramkund, and the white marble Muktidham Mandir. Together, this perfectly curated itinerary offers a pristine wilderness escape where raw Maratha mountain adventure meets a timeless cultural heritage trail.
