Imagine ending your Saturday beside a glowing sea, walking with people who were strangers that morning—and sharing a seafood dinner as friends.

Before that sunset, we’ll have helped a persimmon farming community, learned Korean rhythms together, and shared plenty of laughter along the way.

🍊 Give a hand to a persimmon farming community

Our day begins in Haman, where we’ll join local villagers for 90 minutes of hands-on help preparing gotgam—Korean dried persimmons.

With guidance from our hosts, we’ll:

Remove the leaf-like caps attached to the persimmons.
Trim small patches of peel left after machine peeling.
Attach peeled persimmons to hooks and hang them on drying racks.

Working side by side gives us a natural way to meet our hosts, talk with one another, and contribute to the community welcoming us.

🥁 Feel the joy of Korean rhythms

Last July, HiBA’s Korean percussion lesson moved us deeply. The shared rhythms, laughter and energy stayed with us—and we wanted to experience that connection again.

This time, we’ll enjoy a one-hour samulnori lesson, learning traditional Korean percussion together.

You don’t need musical experience. Come ready to listen, try and find our rhythm as a group! Afterwards, we’ll share lunch in Haman.

🌅 Walk into Gadeokdo’s beautiful sunset—with new friends

From working side by side, we’ll move to walking side by side.

Our bus will take us to Gadeokdo for a 3–4 km coastal and village walk. We’ll enjoy the sea views, swap stories, and make time for conversations that everyday life often rushes past.

Then we’ll gather at Cheonseong Port for the sunset and afterglow. If the skies are kind, we’ll watch warm colours spread across the sea together.

🍽️ Finish around a shared table

We’ll end the day with a seafood dinner in Gadeokdo.

After helping, drumming and walking together, we’ll have plenty to talk about—and familiar faces around the table.

📅 Planned schedule

7:50 AM — Meet in Seomyeon.
We’ll gather at Seomyeon Station, Exit 12, and depart by chartered bus at 8:00 AM.

9:30 AM — Arrive in Haman.
Our hosts will welcome us and explain the village tasks.

9:45–11:15 AM — Help prepare dried persimmons.
We’ll remove the fruit’s leaf-like caps, tidy up remaining peel, and hang persimmons to dry.

11:15–11:30 AM — Take a short break.
We’ll clean up and get ready for our music lesson.

11:30 AM–12:30 PM — Learn samulnori.
We’ll explore traditional Korean rhythms in a one-hour percussion lesson.

12:30–1:30 PM — Share lunch in Haman.
Lunch is included.

1:30–3:10 PM — Travel to Gadeokdo.
We’ll take our chartered bus to the coast.

3:10–4:30 PM — Enjoy our friendship walk.
We’ll walk approximately 3–4 km along coastal and village paths.

4:30–4:50 PM — Transfer to Cheonseong Port.
Our bus will take us to the sunset viewing area.

4:50–5:50 PM — Share the sunset and afterglow.
We’ll pause by the sea for photos, conversation and the evening views.

6:00–7:00 PM — Enjoy a seafood dinner.
Dinner is included.

Around 8:20 PM — Return to Seomyeon.
We’ll arrive back at our original meeting point.

🎒 Before you join

Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes suitable for hands-on farm work. Bring warm layers and drinking water, as the coast can feel cold in November.

Please tell us about any food allergies or dietary needs in the Google form so we can check arrangements in advance.

We’ll travel and participate as a group. Please arrive on time, follow our hosts’ instructions, and let the organizer know promptly if your plans change.

Activities, walking routes and times may change depending on local conditions, weather and traffic. Sunset visibility depends on the weather.
