Return to McAlister’s for Lunch before the Holidays!

Let’s meetup for lunch at McAlister’s before the Holidays. I had notified this group that I’ve been SUPER busy for a while, so could not plan an event until now. But let’s get together again!! Several of you liked McAlister’s & they can accommodate our group size if we have more or fewer people. (Many places cannot accommodate a larger group for a meal.)

McAlister’s serves a range of sandwiches, various dressed up “spuds”, salads & a few other things. There is a good selection to choose from, including a vegan meal if you desire. And their music is not too loud! It’s a good place to meet, eat & talk.

We’ll do introductions for everyone who shows up, including myself of course. We’ll go over the basics about each other. As I’ve said before, I always have conversation starters if there is ever a lull in conversation. In 7 years of having groups, I’ve never heard a lull, but I’ve got those ideas in my back pocket if we encounter one. But there is no specific agenda; we just want to get to know each other.

While I was busy (still am), I sent a notice to all members about my politics – which ABSOLUTELY matter to me. Politics affects our daily lives – now more than ever. I have never once voted for Trump. I’ve been watching a TON of news (real news, not FOX) for the last 20 years & I KNOW how badly Donald & his very corrupt administration have been hurting our country.

I’ve been volunteering with our local INDIVISIBLE group for 2 years now to try to counter-act the increasing authoritarian & incompetent rule of Donald & his gang. I didn’t initially put my political stance in the write-up of this group in hopes of getting more members. But since meetup members are so unreliable in showing up, I decided there is no reason NOT TO state how I see things politically.

My view on the corruption of Donald & this White House WILL NOT CHANGE. So if you understand where I’m coming from on this, even a little bit, you are WELCOME to be a member of this group. Nobody needs to hold exactly my views & I don’t have an opinion on everything (something people do too much of these days). But if you’re one of the shrinking minority of people who still worship Donald like some religious figure, or if you want to argue that he’s a great guy, I DO NOT welcome you in this group. I won’t waste my time with belligerent people who don’t watch any real news. I’ve heard it all from the right-wing & DO NOT SUPPORT IT.

If you were MAGA before & realized you are being taken for a ride, you are WELCOME here. You do not have to belong to any political party or subscribe to any particular political ideology. As long as you see that Donald has NOT done what he promised, or that he is someone whose behavior you cannot support, then YOU ARE WELCOME IN THIS GROUP. If you are STILL a MAGA, after you’ve seen NONE of Donald’s promises come to pass, I will NOT waste my time with you. The MAGA movement is THE reason this country is in such a mess! I can easily talk about some of these things…IF the conversation remains CIVIL!

This event was set up BEFORE the Midterm election on Nov 3rd. For the midterms, many of us are hoping to get more Democrats in Congress to STAND UP to Trump & his Gang in the White House - since the Republicans have not stood up for anything! But you don’t need to be a Democrat. I pledge allegiance only to my conscience & my brain!
SO LET’S MEET BEFORE THIS UPCOMING ELECTION.
We can talk about ANYTHING that comes up – as long as it remains CIVIL!!
