We are heading to West Village! Opens 10/10! Already one of the toughest resys in NYC! In the former EN Brasserie space (which we loved), he’s set up quite a magnificent kitchen, one with a wood-burning oven visible from the moment you walk inside, a central hearth that warms the room and inspires the menu, which is not only guided by the seasons, and the market but linked up with the harvest from Magic Farms, the farm Humm co-founded in 2021 with his friend, photographer-turned-farmer Maciek Kobielski.
From preview menus sent my way, things sound like this: charcoal-grilled branzino, roasted chicken for two with brioche and butter, wood-fired focaccia, and a crispy feta dish. Cocktails spearheaded by the acclaimed barman Javelle Taft whose staff pilots a Martini cart throughout the 7,000-square-foot space.
Humm is the first from renowned French interior architect and furniture designer Pierre Yovanovitch and was built in collaboration with artists and friends who have inspired Humm throughout his career. Which means the room is museum-adjacent: walls are hung with works by Louise Bourgeois, including a suspended sculpture, “The Couple;” Francesco Clemente contributes a fresco-style ceiling mural and pieces by Rashid Johnson and Roni Horn anchor the lounge and main dining room.
"Let us now consider HUMM — all caps, please — the new, more casual restaurant from Eleven Madison Park impresario Daniel Humm slated to open to the public this Saturday, Oct. 10. Whether you’re on the side of the beloved, deposed En Japanese Brasserie — whose longtime Hudson St. space Humm usurped to make way for his new restaurant — or on the side of those who find chef Humm terminally overexposed, there’s no denying this will be one of Manhattan’s hot tables this Fall."
Cost: 100+ (ALL IN)
Menu: (TBD) based on avail/headcount
Please arrive with an open mind and palate
