I used to lead Nakiska ski days, but haven't for the last two years. I'm starting up again for the 2026/2027 ski year.

I like to lead Nakiska ski days on some, but not all Tuesdays, through the Nakiska season. A nice group of relaxed skiers getting out for the day. I usually ski intermediate, can sometimes be talked into black if the conditions are right, occassionally green runs, if injured.

Today is the last day for the discounted ski pass! $399 for midweek (Monday
to Thursday). They also have full week, student, and seniors passes. Best rate if you are 75+. It works best for me to ski Tuesdays from about 10am to 2:30pm. People can carpool from Calgary, drive themselves, or I (coming from Cochrane) can take 1 to 3 people from the Petro station at hwy 1 and 1a in my Jeep (15 gas fee).

I am a fair weather skier. I cancel the event if it is below -20 (brrr), the runs are icy, or if the roads are dangerous. Always check by 6pm the night before in case of cancellation. If I cancel, you can always go ahead, but it IS NO LONGER A SLOW AND STEADY EVENT, just a group of friends.

My usual plan:

Meet inside main lodge at the back tables, ready to sign waiver and ski at 10am. Ski together or in groups until 12:30pm. Meet in lodge for lunch from 12:30-1pm. Ski a little more from 1-2:30pm. Let organizer know when you are leaving. Prefer if guests sign up as Slow and Steady members. You need to sign the slow and steady waiver in person, each time. Pleasant, friendly, kind people only. Let's have a fun day skiing in the mountains without the crowds.

We may exchange phone numbers to contact each other on the hill. All slow and steady policies apply. Waiver and Code of Conduct will be added below.

Waiver: As per our policy for waivers, one of us will bring the group waiver form to the meetup. You must sign the waiver and provide the phone number of an emergency contact.
Your participation in this event means you have read the waiver and by signing up for this event you have accepted the waiver. You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides, and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear, and you are physically fit to do this hike with the group. You are responsible for your own safety and well-being.
All participants are responsible for assessing current road, weather, trail and avalanche conditions for the trip.
