Let’s Learn is a weekly, in-person collaborative philosophy group that discusses a pre-planned topic as a team. Our goal is to learn about each other, ourselves, and how we construct our worldviews. No topic is off-limit, but Mike does bring his 15+ plus years of teaching experience to the group, acting as a moderator, to ensure that all attendees feel respected and safe as we discuss the issue of the day.

Here’s a list of some of the topics we’ve discussed:
Privacy, advice, courtesy, childhood goals, marriage/divorce, conflict, and isolation, truth, mistakes, public speaking, revenge, mortality, humor, success and failure, anger, murder, coincidences, self-identity, addiction, compulsion and habits, opinions, memory, sacredness, self-esteem, the social contract, and animism. We've even split the hair between presumptions & assumptions (They’re different!)

But the topic doesn’t matter. We could discuss dog-poop and our ridiculously amicable clan would still run out of time, with people dying to share more opinions.

In our post-COVID, isolated, digital world, spending quality, in-person time with others is just what the doctor ordered. Like a frog in slowly boiling water, we’ve adopted a lifestyle that’s wreaking havoc on our mental health and well-being. Community is the only cure!

Mike Oppenheim is an English, grammar, language, and creative writing professor with a 15+ year career teaching students from Junior High through College.
