Join us for a hike and see
the "dancing" trees in the Speulder- and Sprielderbos
It's already a few years ago that we visited this forest, so it is time we go there again.
Attention:
It is difficult to reach with public transport , but we have enough cars now to go together and share car costs. We will also pick up participants from Amersfoort station.

Together with the All Seasons Adventurers

After the hike we will have a drink together in the Bilderberg hotel.

About the forest:
Home to ‘dancing’ trees, the Speulder- and Sprielderbos is one of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands. Here, you can wander as if through a true primeval forest. Glossy spruces, gnarled moss-covered oaks, ferns, and partially decayed trunks create a unique atmosphere. You will also find two other types of forest here: the ‘light’ forest—featuring Scots pines, birches, and oaks—and the ‘dark’ forest, where Douglas firs, Norway spruces, and American oaks predominate.
Gnarled beeches, giant Douglas firs, ancient coppiced oak woods—this forest is home to wildlife such as red deer and wild boar, as well as the tawny owl, European honey buzzard, and black woodpecker.
We will also take a look and have a break at the Solse Gat. This deep hollow was formed during the last ice age. It was deepened further through the excavation of loam. Legends from the Veluwe tell a very different story. A monastery is said to have once stood on this site. The monks had sold their souls to the devil and were punished for it. On a wild Christmas night, the monastery sank into the earth. Only the stately access road remains as a reminder of the monastery...
