9: Dealing With The Blues

Life can be challenging at times and it can be hard to see a solution, autism can be a factor in that. So what do you do when things get to you and you feel down? Many of us find solitude in nature, or isolating at home retreating from outside challenges. Others may seek social connection and distraction. We may journal, talk to a therapist, reach out online, walk, or something else. We all have times where we feel glum and self-kindness always helps.

Have you battled to find acceptance in your life?
Do you have a good support system today?
Have you experienced depression?
What is the best thing for you to do when you are down?
Do you feel that you think kindly of yourself?
When down are you more likely to isolate, of seek others?

10: Quirky Thinking And Not Fitting In

Sometimes we may not understand social constructs and expectations, we may just think that they’re arbitrary, pointless, or unnecessary, but others have strong expectations for us to conform. We maybe very literal, and/or very good at compartmentalising, this can make us brilliant and innovative, seeing things other do not, but it can also cause frustration and stress. Thinking differently to others can be an interesting experience.

Do you take things too literally?
Do you get frustrated by what you feel is inefficient or pointless?
Do you sometimes feel misunderstood and confused by policies and rules?
What are some examples of expectations you find frustrating?
Do you often think ‘outside the box’? in what way?
Has your different thinking caused bemusement or stress?

Hope to see you there 🙂
