This is the first Blood on the Clocktower night to be hosted at The Outpost Board Game Cafe in Langford, and hopefully there will be many more to come!
Whether you've played dozens of times, only seen live-plays on youtube, or have never even heard of Blood on the Clocktower, we want you to come join!
To answer a few potential questions:
Q: What is Blood on the Clocktower?
A: A bluffing, hidden-role, social deduction game along the lines of Mafia or Werewolf, where the evil team kills good players at night while good tries to deduce and execute the evil team.
Q: How is it different from other social deduction games?
A: A couple key things make it stand out:
1. Every player has a role with a mechanical effect on the game. Everyone gets information or an ability that contributes to the game's logic puzzle!
2. No one is ever really "out" of the game. Even after you die, you still sleep at night with all the living players, you still talk with fellow players to try to solve the game, and you can still cast a crucial deciding vote!
Q: Do I need to know how to play to join this event?
A: Not at all! We're happy to teach the game to new players and introduce it to people who are excited to learn. Just show up and be ready to participate!
Q: How many people can play in a game of Blood on the Clocktower?
A: Each game has one player serving as Storyteller, and anywhere from 6-20 players as the Townspeople. Ideal player count is usually 9-12 Townspeople.
Q: How long is a typical game?
A: Lots of factors influence that, the biggest being player count. A smaller game is usually a shorter game. That said, it could range anywhere from 30 minutes for a quick game, up to 2 hours for a game packed full of players.
Q: Does it cost money/do I need to bring anything to play?
A: We will provide everything required to play. The event itself is free, but The Outpost does have a $7.50 stay-and-play cover fee for playing games at the café.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, we'll respond as soon as we can!
Hope to see you there!
