Union Square to Gramercy Park—History and Architecture Monday, Sept 21, 2026—Noon to 3:00 pm Manhattan DETAILS These two green spaces, as well as the streets that link them, are rich in history and beauty. We’ll view the wide variety of architectural styles on the periphery of Union Square, along with the plaques, statues and monuments inside it. The more uniformly designed residences bordering Gramercy Park are among the most picturesque in Manhattan. The streets off Irving Place likewise contain elegant homes built over the past two centuries. Altogether, this moderate-paced walk of about two miles will trace the evolution of commercial and residential development in one of NYC’s most desirable areas. Limited to 25 participants. How to Find Us: Meet in a shady spot near the George Washington equestrian statue at the southern end of Union Square at E 14th St. Several subway lines stop at the Union Square station. Public toilets are available at the northeastern corner of Union Square near E 17th St. Bring lunch for a stop in the park around 1:15 pm.
