Day trip by train - historic Rochester!

Come along on Saturday 17th October for a day trip by train to the historic town of Rochester in Kent! About the day Rochester is situated at the lowest bridging point of the River Medway. It was originally a Roman settlement which was called 'Durobriva'. Rochester's skyline is dominated by its cathedral, which was built in various stages between 1080–1343) and its castle built in the 12th century which has one of the best preserved keeps in England. The town was for many years a favourite of the writer Charles Dickens, who owned nearby Gads Hill Place, basing many of his novels on the area. Aprox Itinerary 9:45am - meet at the station and purchase GroupSave tickets (3 for 2) in groups of three to 'Rochester' 10:10am - catch train 10:53am - arrive and walk into Rochester 11:15am - guided walk of Rochester 1:00pm - lunch 2:15pm - visit the castle 3:30pm - freetime Return Trains to London Fast trains going back to London: 5:02pm, 5:32pm (to St. Pancras), 5:06pm, 5:38pm (to Victoria) and at the same times past each hour, it takes about 40mins. Entry The guided walk is £7 per person, entry to the castle is £9 per person (English Heritage members are free for the castle). Payable on the day by cash or credit card. All are optional, you can do all one, two or do your own thing around the town. Food & Drink Its up to you whether you bring your own food or eat in the town. There are plenty of cafes and pubs.
