moderate to brisk pace varied by terrain
Mt. Chocorua sits at the southern edge of the White Mountains. This will be the most difficult hike of the trip. We start at the parking lot by the Piper Trailhead where there are bathrooms. We begin ascending immediately on the Piper Trail along a stream. As we are climbing a mountain it will all be an ascent until we reach the top, about 4.5 miles. There are also 2 monkey climbs where you will want to have your hands free. The top is open with 365 deg views and will be our lunch spot.
After lunch we descend on a loop that takes us past Bald Mountain and back to the parking lot. Bring water, lunch, rain gear, and poles if you use them but you may want to put them away for the monkey climbs. If you need to contact me, my cell is 609-471-4119.
