Find your voice. Find your place. Find your people. ARE WE YOUR PEOPLE? Choruses are like team sports without the tackling--just people coming together to make music, find joy, and hit most of the notes. It's not about glory; it's about connection, growth, and a great excuse to get out of the house. There is something transcendent about music--especially when you're the one creating it. Why? Community: choruses are built-in friend groups where bonding happens over missed entrances and inside jokes. Love of Music: some people truly love to sing. Others just need a reason to escape the Wednesday night Netflix marathons. Emotional Outlet: belting out your feelings in harmony beats journaling, doom-scrolling, or sobbing in your car. Tradition: our chorus is more than 70 years old and many of our traditions are corny or just plain fun. Personal Growth: nothing builds character like being told to "lift the apples of your cheeks" while praying you don't butcher your part. Of course, there are some obvious perks. Mind: singing demands focus. It's like Sudoku for your brain--just louder and less frustrating. It's also scientifically proven to reduce stress... unless you stop watching the director or forget the words! Body: singing in a chorus is basically yoga. You breathe deeply, stand tall, and sometimes break a sweat if the director gets a little too inspired. Spirit: nothing lifts the soul like a good harmony--unless you miss the entrance in which case you simply pray no one noticed. Singing with others releases endorphins and oxytocin--so you feel better without needing a prescription! It fills your life with music, friendship, laughter, and joy. So, what are you waiting for? Come and sing with us! We sing a variety of modern-ish songs along with old broadway showtunes in a cappella four-part harmony. We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at the Elks Lodge of San Gabriel. It's located at 1373 E. Las Tunas Drive, in San Gabriel, CA. There's plenty of free and easy parking!
