The Maltese Falcon (1941) 85th Anniversary

One of the most influential and well regarded film noir movies of all time, this classic 1941 film by famed director John Huston (The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The African Queen, Chinatown) set the stage for the crime and noir genre with a hardboiled private detective, a femme fatale, gritty settings, and looming shadows. Based on the classic hardboiled novel by legendary writer Dashiell Hammett, this movie stars Humphrey Bogart (The Big Sleep, Casablanca, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, In a Lonely Place) as Sam Spade, a cynical private detective that gets caught in a crime conspiracy after the death of his partner. Well acted and shot with witty dialogue and a compelling narrative with plenty of twists and turns, this classic is mandatory viewing for mystery and crime film fans, and this upcoming anniversary is the perfect time to see it!

Note: After watching the movie, we plan to go to Chili's (800 Paseo del Rey, Chula Vista, CA 91910) to relax, hang out, and discuss our thoughts about the film and other conversational topics. Click on the link to register for Chili's if you plan to go after the film.
