Welcome to our second Ladies who read event!
Following our kickstart event, our women-focused Amsterdam book club is back for a second edition! We invite you to read and discuss Dola de Jong's Dutch masterpiece The Tree and the Vine (De thuiswacht).
Published in 1954, this novel tells the story of two women in Amsterdam, summer 1938. The book describes the growing relationship between them and ask important questions like what if you start falling for a friend? De thuiswacht is considered a Dutch classic so don't miss out!
All individuals who identify as women or non-binary are welcome. Discussions will be held in English for inclusivity, but you can read the book in the language of your choice. No literary or feminist expertise is required. You are welcome to join even if you did not finish the book.
This first book was chosen by the attendees of the first event. We will continue to choose together - members are invited to vote on options and to nominate books for future meetings.
This time we have a reservation indoors at the cozy café tHuis can de Amstel, right by the river, which serves homemade cakes and local treats.
We look forward to seeing you there.
