Accessible floorwork & soft acrobatics for beginners

Want to get more comfortable moving on the floor and build the foundations for soft acrobatics? This event brings together two beginner-friendly workshops exploring movement on, across and close to the floor. We’ll work with rolling, sliding, spiralling, crawling, weight shifts and simple acrobatic elements, gradually building a wider range of movement possibilities. The focus is on building foundations;developing coordination, mobility, strength and body awareness while learning to work with gravity, momentum and the support of the floor. You don’t need previous experience in dance, floorwork or acrobatics, and you don’t need to be especially strong or flexible. Total beginners welcome. 12h30 Acessible Floorwork Explore ways of moving on and close to the floor with more ease, awareness and fluidity. Inspired by contemporary dance and somatic approaches to movement, we’ll work with rolling, sliding, spiralling, and finding different pathways through low levels. 13h50 Break 14h10 Soft Acrobatics for beginners Explore more dynamic ways of travelling through space and inversions inspired by Capoeira Angola and contemporary dance. We’ll connect hands and feet in different patterns, play with changes of direction and weight, and gradually introduce accessible low-level acrobatic movement.
