Drive 16.6 mi N of Moab on UT191. Turn right 0.4 mi N of mile marker 142. Turnoff is marked. Continue 2.7 mi, on rock road/ non 4WD can carefully make it. Keep left to large parking lot. Meet in parking lot at ~10:00 AM at start; wheels rolling after all have arrived and are ready.
Intermediate level fun ride; challenges include short steep sections on slick rock and lack of shade. Ride starts on a sandy road – may be limited hike-a-bike; road transitions into a huge field of slick rock. Follow the white markers.
See dinosaur tracks! Fossilized dinosaur tracks are embedded in the sandstone along the trail.
It’s a pretty gradual slope that isn’t too steep. At the upper end we’ll stash bikes for a half-mile walk to the Klondike Bluffs viewpoint. Bring lunch.
Returning, we may ride back on the Baby Steps trails. On upper part of Baby Steps, we can ride Little Salty and connect with Dino Flow, which skirts the edge of the escarpment and ends back at the parking lot. E-bikes allowed.
