China Date Ranch (Tecopa, CA)

📌 This is a 6-mile point-to-point hike, starting near Death Valley Brewery and ending at China Ranch Date Farm, on a trail that’s primarily flat and offers a variety of gravel roads, dirt paths, tall reeds, thickets, marshland, a waterfall, railroad embankments & incredible views of a very unusual landscape.

Everything I Need To Know Before I Arrive

We will form carpools at the Late Night Trailhead parking lot on Nevada 160 (aka Pahrump Hwy) which is 4.7 miles west of the Blue Diamond Travel Center (at the junction of NV 160 and NV 159).
(New attendees are required to fill out a participant waiver form)

NOTE: Each passenger is responsible for paying their driver $10 for gas and mileage.

4WD and HCV are not needed, although the last half mile into and out of China Ranch Date Farm is a steep dirt road. Because we need to minimize the number of drivers, we’re looking for vehicles with 4 seat belts. We’ll carpool/caravan 57 miles/about 1-hr to Tecopa. Upon arriving in Tecopa, all hikers and gear will be left near the brewery while the drivers take all vehicles 6 miles to China Ranch Date Farm. One or two vehicles with all the drivers will return to join the group and begin our hike.
After the hike, we’ll stop at the gift shop and bakery, which features locally grown dates and baked goods. Date shakes are very popular! A drive or walk through the date orchard is also highly recommended.

MEETUP PROFILE: Your Meetup profile must include a current profile photo, and the name on your Meetup profile must match the name you use on your participant waiver. This is required so organizers can accurately verify attendance and participant records.
