Spirit Tales of the Vancouver Barracks 👻
Calling all spooky-season lovers!
October was made for ghost stories—and this one comes with more than 150 years of history behind it.
Join us for Spirit Tales of the Vancouver Barracks, a nighttime walking tour through the historic Vancouver Barracks and Officers Row, where we'll explore some of the darker stories, mysteries and reported hauntings connected to the people who once lived, worked and served here.
And our storyteller knows this place particularly well.
The tour was created by local historian and author Jefferson Davis, who served at the Vancouver Barracks for many years and has firsthand experience with both its history and its spookier side. He's written extensively about Pacific Northwest ghosts and legends, including Vancouver USA Ghosts Volume I, Ghosts, Critters, & Sacred Places of Washington & Oregon, Haunted Astoria and Portland's Rose City Ghosts I.
We'll walk approximately 1½ miles through the historic grounds, stopping near places such as the Parade Ground, O.O. Howard House, old Post Hospital and Ulysses S. Grant House while hearing stories of loneliness, tragedy, unexplained happenings—and some of the people who may not have entirely left. 👻
And who better to host this one for us than our spooky-season-loving member and now Event Organizer, Angela! Angela raised her hand to bring this adventure to our Wandering Women, and she'll be there to help gather our group for a delightfully spooky October night.
🍷 Let's Start With Wine at the Grant House!
Before we go looking for spirits of the other variety, let's meet for a glass of wine at Willful Wine at the historic Grant House.
Angela will be there beginning at 5:30 PM to welcome our Wandering Women, so come early, grab a glass of wine or something from the menu, and get to know everyone before our ghostly adventure begins.
At approximately 6:30 PM, we'll settle up and head together to the Spirit Tales meeting location—conveniently located just across from the Grant House—for our 6:45 PM check-in and 7:00 PM tour.
Wine and food at Willful are optional and purchased individually.
Come on your own or bring a friend. Whether you're a true believer, a history lover, a skeptic who secretly hopes to see something, or simply someone who LOVES spooky season, come wander the Barracks with us after dark!

And gals... stick with the group. Vancouver Barracks already has enough ghosts. 👻😂
