The approaching Halloween reminds us about the death and those who passed away and on the other hand invites to celebrate life, and not waste time on what is not essential.
The evening will be dedicated to the subject and guided by writer and philosopher Gunnar Björklund, who wrote the book with this title and is one of the club founders (together with me).
Book is dedicated to his son who passed away at age of 23.
⏳ Remember: Time Is Limited
With every ticking second, another moment of your life slips away. Our lives are finite, and so is our time. Do not waste your precious time, or you may find yourself looking back on your life with regret when it is too late to change anything.
We must remember that ageing and death are not distant events awaiting us somewhere in the future. They are inevitable processes unfolding continuously, within us and all around us. We must not allow the passage of time to catch us by surprise. Instead, let the awareness of our mortality remind us to live fully in the present, leaving nothing truly important unfinished, unspoken, or unresolved.
We have responsibilities both to ourselves and to others. Live each day as though it were a complete life. Put your affairs in order, nurture your relationships, and attend to what truly matters. None of us knows what tomorrow may bring or how much time we have left.
Do not procrastinate. Do not live in denial. Do not let life pass you by unnoticed. Fulfil your responsibilities. Confront your fears. Acknowledge your mortality. Live consciously, courageously, and authentically—today and every day.
🕯️ A Philosophical Halloween: Questions That Matter
Halloween is traditionally associated with death, mystery, and the unknown. Yet beyond its costumes and celebrations lies an opportunity to confront one of life's most profound truths: our time is limited.
This evening invites us to reflect on the quality of our lives and ask ourselves whether we are truly living—or merely allowing time to pass without direction, awareness, or meaning.
We cannot choose how much time we are given, but we can choose how we spend it.
Let us explore these questions from a philosophical perspective:
1. Am I living authentically, or am I playing a role shaped by the expectations of others?
2. Am I truly experiencing life, or merely moving from one day to the next without genuine presence or awareness?
3. Does my life have a purpose that I consciously pursue, or am I simply following familiar routines?
4. Do my everyday choices and actions reflect my deepest values and beliefs?
5. How would I like to be remembered, and am I living in a way that reflects that legacy?
6. What important decisions, conversations, or experiences am I postponing out of fear?
7. Am I devoting my limited time to the people, activities, and aspirations that truly matter to me?
8. If my life continued exactly as it is today, would I feel fulfilled and content?
9. Am I consciously shaping my own life, or allowing fear, habits, circumstances, and other people's expectations to determine its direction?
10. What dreams, ambitions, and meaningful experiences have I yet to fulfil?
11. What is truly holding me back from pursuing my dreams and realising my potential?
12. If I were to look back on my life from my deathbed, what would I regret not having done, said, experienced, or changed?
🕯️ Join Us for an Evening of Reflection
Let us use this Halloween to look beyond the masks we wear, question the habits that govern our lives, confront the fears that limit us, and reconnect with what gives our existence meaning.
For the most important question is not simply how long we will live, but how consciously, courageously, and meaningfully we choose to live.
Life is happening now. There is no time to lose. ⏳
best regards!

Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎
Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.
The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌
📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the Whatsapp groups,
https://chat.whatsapp.com/GmIWvXtyJL4JmA1vEPlJJl?mode=emscopyc
along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.
When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture.
