Mtg & Talk

The Warren Astronomical Society meets monthly on the third Thursday in Room 208 in the "E" building at Macomb Community College, 14500 E 12 Mile Road, Warren, MI, 48088.

We do a bit of club business early on, then have a major presentation usually put together by one of our members.

We simulcast meetings online using Zoom. Meetup charges even more money to set up hybrid meetings, so subscribe to our email list on warrenastro.org to get the Zoom links! Meetings are also livestreaming on our YouTube channel.

Feature
My kitchen is a space ship! ... and other adventures with outer space"
By Glenn Taylor
Glenn's presentation will cover how he got interested in space, and how that interest has led him both professionally (in his day job) and artistically to work with space themes. He will talk about how he got started as an artist, his artistic process, and how his art has been informed and driven by curiosity, exploration, and discovery.
About the Speaker
Glenn Taylor is a robotics scientist, self-taught artist and pinhole photographer. Space has always inspired him. As a kid, he wrote letters to NASA asking for images of the Voyager probes and shuttle program. He has since done research for NASA. In his art, ingredients he finds in his kitchen become his fodder for images that look like they might be photos taken by spacecraft approaching distant worlds.

If you would like to present a short talk (5-15 minutes) or a long talk (40-60 minutes) at a future meeting, please email Jonathan Kade at [email protected].
