Autumn is rolling in, and so is the next Google Cloud Meetup in Vienna!

We’re excited to bring the local cloud and GDG community back together this October.
As engineering teams scale, maintaining fast iteration cycles without sacrificing reliability becomes a major bottleneck.
This fall, we are shifting our focus to developer velocity, build optimization, and scalable GCP execution. Join us for an evening of deep-dive architectural breakdowns, practical engineering insights, and networking with fellow cloud professionals.

Talk 1: The Bazel Build System: Fast, Correct, and Reproducible Builds for DevOps & Data Engineering

Tired of slow CI pipelines and "works on my machine" bugs in polyglot codebases? Join Daniel for a deep dive into Bazel—Google’s open-source build engine built for scale, absolute determinism, and speed.
Learn how Bazel’s execution graph pairs with Google Cloud (Cloud Build, GCS remote caching, GKE Remote Execution, and Artifact Registry) to run massive 1,000-core builds directly from your laptop. Daniel will also share practical DevOps and Data Engineering patterns—including daemonless container builds, hermetic Python setups, and unified dbt pipelines.

Talk 2: Who Babysits The Agent at 3 a.m.? Automation Using Google AX

Handing a Jira ticket to an AI agent takes a minute. Keeping it alive for three hours is the hard part: it waits for a Slack reply, crashes halfway, or loops until the bill gets interesting. We look at three jobs teams already want agents for: turning tickets into pull requests, reviewing PRs, and fixing the alert that pages SRE at 3 a.m. Then we show how Google AX, Google's new open-source runtime for long-running agents, handles them on GKE with Workload Identity, LiteLLM, ArgoCD and HolmesGPT.
