The Shoreline Miyawaki Urban Forest was planned, planted, and is maintained by an amazing group of talented and hard-working volunteers. We toured it in 2024, about a year post-planting and noted the carefully chosen native plants, the dense plantings, rainwater storage, Roger Fernandez’s stonework, forage, and shelter for local birds, and the detailed educational signage in English and Lushootseed.
Now we want to confirm that the Forest is meeting the expected outcomes of 10 times faster and 30 times denser growth, higher overall immunity, reduced risk of disease, and the theories about why this works!
We will meet at the Shoreline Historical Museum Miyawaki Forest at 1:45 PM; Program starts promptly at 2 PM.
