Klara and the Sun

Hello friends, This month, we're reading Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro! Written by the same author wrote Never Let Me Go (our group's final book club book of 2023), Klara and the Sun explores the world from the perspective of a robot "Artificial Friend" wishing to be chosen by a human. The publisher website describes it as a novel of "exquisite tenderness and impeccable restraint," a set of descriptors I don't see together often but I find quite intriguing! The book was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2021, and with the growing presence of Artificial You-Know-What in everyone's lives these days, the book continues to have a place in discourse 5 years later.
