Let's play some underrated route/network-building games!
In Gonzaga, players compete to carve out the largest and most valuable medieval empire across a map of Europe. Using chunky, irregularly shaped plastic pieces, you'll claim territory, connect cities and harbors, and pursue secret objectives.
In Butterfly Garden, players lay tiles to build a shared network of winding paths, trying to guide colorful butterflies into their own flowerbeds while diverting them away from their opponents.
In Airlines Europe, players compete to establish routes, increase airline values, and collect shares in the most profitable companies. Build airline networks across Europe while investing in the companies you think will come out on top.
SNCF: France & Germany is a brisk, stripped-down cube rails game where players invest in railway companies while competing to build profitable routes across the map. On your turn, you can either expand a company's network to increase its value or trade one of your shares for more shares in another company.
Knowing how to play these games is not a prerequisite - while some familiarity with modern board games will help, I will always offer to teach each game before we begin playing.
