Let’s make dumplings together.
We will spend the evening preparing different fillings, making dough, folding dumplings and finding out whose technique actually keeps the filling inside.
The plan is to make a few different kinds of dumplings, including Japanese gyoza and Polish pierogi. Depending on the ideas people bring, we may also try another variation or make some sweet dumplings for dessert.
What will we do?
Prepare different fillings
Make and roll out the dough
Learn a few folding techniques
Boil, steam or fry the dumplings
Eat everything together
You do not need any experience. Folding dumplings takes a little practice, but badly shaped dumplings usually taste just as good.
What should you bring?
I will provide flour and the basic ingredients for the dough.
You are welcome to suggest a filling or bring ingredients for something you would like to make. Please leave a comment about your idea so we can coordinate.
Possible fillings include:
Mushrooms and cabbage
Potato and cheese
Tofu and vegetables
Pork or chicken
Apple and cinnamon
Berries or sweetened cream cheese
If you do not have anything particular in mind, that is completely fine. Just come along and help us prepare the food.
Who can join?
Everyone is welcome. You do not need cooking experience and you do not need to know anyone before the event.
Practical information
The event will take place in a private kitchen in Karlsruhe
Places are limited so everyone has enough space to take part
Please mention anything you do not eat before the event
Since we use a shared kitchen, an allergen-free environment cannot be guaranteed
Please only RSVP if you genuinely plan to attend. If your plans change, cancel your RSVP so someone else can take your place.
Looking forward to an evening of questionable folding techniques, good food and good company.
