Hey, how's it going? Science Pub: Uncommon Flora looks like it should be pretty interesting. Want me to help you organise around it?

Note: Tickets haven't gone on sale yet. I'll promote this event like normal once they have.

Let's see what we can learn about rare plants in the PNW and evolution in an hour of a fun, photo-filled presentation from a local evolutionary biologist — and how many fellow science lovers we can meet in the hour beforehand.

If you're single and a little nerdy about plants, conservation, evolution, community/citizen science, history, or learning new things... we hope you'll join us!

Here's the plan:

Once they go on sale, get your ticket asap (the suggested donation is $8) before it most likely sells out a week or two before the event. Seriously.
Let's meet up inside the McMenamin's Kennedy School by the theater so we can say hello before the doors open at 6, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts.
Find Kristina (I'll wear a ridiculous crown to make it easier) and introduce yourself.
And if you have a nerdy/science-y t-shirt or something you'd want to wear for funsies or as a conversation starter, go for it! (This is totally optional, but Kristina will.)

Wait, what is this Science Pub event? This will be a casual lecture in a cool theater. Here's part of the blurb: "Why are some plant species rare, and what can we learn from them? These are two of the fundamental questions at the core of conservation biology. In an era of accelerated anthropogenic change, understanding how the past has shaped our biota and the distribution of species across our region is more important than ever before." Reminder: Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include being respectful and honest, no harassing or aggressive behavior, and no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host know or reach out to another group organizer (like Brenda, Max, Kevin, Dan, Cory, Cat, Caitlin or Erin).

Any questions? Comment below.

P.S. For anyone curious, the photo on this event is one I took of the rare-ish Tweedy's Lewisia flower.
