Welcome to Beginner Level Scrambling!

This hike in the Red Springs area of Calico Basin is intended to be a beginner level scramble but experienced scramblers are welcome.

This hike in the Red Springs area of Calico Basin is intended to be a beginner level scramble but experienced scramblers are welcome.

Discover a different side of hiking in the scenic Red Springs area of Calico Basin!

This outing introduces participants to the exciting world of rock scrambling, where the adventure goes beyond following a traditional hiking trail.

Unlike ordinary hiking, scrambling involves navigating natural rock formations by climbing, stepping, balancing, and finding your way across uneven terrain. It's an opportunity to develop new outdoor skills while exploring some of Southern Nevada's remarkable landscapes.

Our route will be adapted to the abilities and experience of those attending, making this a welcoming introduction for beginners while still offering opportunities for more experienced participants.

Throughout the outing, we'll focus on practical scrambling techniques, movement across rocky surfaces, equipment considerations, and personal safety.

Expect an engaging morning of exploration, teamwork, and a little physical challenge. Scrambling can involve occasional bumps and scrapes, so come prepared for an active outdoor experience!
