Cruach Tairbeirt, a ‘scenic sweet point’

Cruach Tairbeirt (Stack of the neck of land)is a ‘scenic sweet point’ above Tarbet that is often overlooked even by those familiar with the Loch Lomond area. It is 415-meter hill giving a short but steep ascent to a great viewpoint of all hills in the area, and Loch Lomond, Loch Long and Loch Sloy. Our route Leads through Kenmore Woods and up a forest track, with some steep, muddy sections and a grassy upper portion. Grade C+ Easy If arriving by car I suggest you park at ‘Kirk of the Lochs restaurant’ car park, to avoid an encounter with the notorious resident of a house at the train station car park who will berate very hostilely any walkers she sees parking up to start a walk. There are trains to get there, on the day I think the option is the 8.21 from Glasgow Queen Street.
