Lord Lucan, a British aristocrat and gambler, disappeared in November 1974 after his children’s nanny, Sandra Rivett, was found murdered at his estranged wife’s London home.

His wife Veronica was also seriously attacked and identified Lucan as her assailant. Lucan subsequently drove to friends in Sussex, wrote several letters, and vanished.

A coroner’s jury later found that he had murdered Rivett. Despite numerous alleged sightings worldwide, his fate remains unknown; he was officially declared dead in 1999.
