Love classic TV? We’re starting a regular Monday night meet-up event that’s like a film club, but for television; a chance to get together, watch great shows, have a few pints and chat about what makes them work. The Royal Oak pub in Clifton has generously offered us our own cosy upstairs space with a big-screen TV. Their kitchen is closed on Mondays but you’re welcome to bring your own food or grab something from one of the many nearby restaurants (but please buy a drink or two from the bar to thank them for hosting the event). For our first meetup, we'll be watching a few episodes of Arrested Development (22 minutes each). This multi-award winning comedy follows the spectacularly dysfunctional Bluth family, as the central character, Michael, tries to keep his wealthy family and its business together after his father is imprisoned. Packed with sharp writing, running jokes and wonderfully eccentric characters, it has become a cult classic. The first episode that we’ll watch will be the pilot, which efficiently describes each character and the premise, so you won’t have any trouble following the other episodes even if you’ve never seen the show before. So whether you're a long-time Bluth family fan or watching it for the first time, come along and join the conversation. And remember: there's always money in the banana stand.
