Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Miles Teller - do I really have to say more?

Well ok, I will. This highly rated drama, about two brothers who pursue the American Dream but get entangled in a dangerous Russian mafia scheme that terrorizes their family, is a cross-city odyssey that feels of its time but also of the moment. While praising all three performances one critic said, "Adam Driver Is Knockout Great in Year’s Best Crime Movie".

Signing up below means you want a ticket when we get them during the Member sale from 9/28-9/30/2026.

IMPORTANT NOTE: MFF has changed their festival ticketing policy. So, we will only be able to offer Member discount pricing to THE FIRST 6 RSVPS on each event. After that number has been reached your tickets will be priced at the General rate. Your event host(s) will count as one of the 6 Member tickets. So, be sure to RSVP ASAP if you want that Member discount.

Tickets go on sale Monday, September 28 at 10:00am to Montclair Film Members and Thursday, October 1 at 10:00am to the public.
General $20
Member $17

DISCUSSION: We'll walk down the street and grab a slice at Belgiovine's Pizza. We discovered this place last year and it was close and good! Especially for a quick, in between films bite. 712 Bloomfield Avenue, https://belgiovines.com

SYNOPSIS: With PAPER TIGER, James Gray returns to the decay and grit of New York City’s outer boroughs to tell the story of Irwin Pearl (Miles Teller), a working class stiff in the thrall of his brother Gary (Adam Driver), a slick former cop whose get-rich-quick plans seem too good to be true. But when Gary and Irwin run up against the violent realities of Brooklyn’s underground, it will test them in ways neither thought was possible. PAPER TIGER is a brilliant throwback to crime dramas that defined an era.

RUN TIME: 115 minutes
