This month we host the stage together with 𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆. Meet 𝗗𝗿. 𝗨𝗹𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗸, Managing Director of 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗶𝗡𝗘𝗦, on taking a university vaccine platform from 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲 to 𝗘𝗨-𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆
Nucleate is a free, non-profit organization run by trainees, with chapters in over 40 regions. Its 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 takes scientific founding teams through months of company-building, ending in a demo day with investors and industry. 𝗪𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹: 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀. We open the evening together, as the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗶𝗡𝗘𝗦
A spin-off of Martin Luther University 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲-Wittenberg, VEROVACCiNES develops animal vaccines on 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺: fast to develop, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁. In April 2026 its first product, 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝟯 against bluetongue, received 𝗘𝗨-𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The company also signed its 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 with a top-10 global animal health company. After a 𝗺𝗶𝗱-𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻-𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗕 in 2021, existing investors and the founders largely followed on with €𝟭.𝟲𝗠 in 2025.

𝗨𝗹𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲 will tell the story behind it: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝟯: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁. Then questions, pizza and open networking.

Why we meet
Leipzig and Saxony are home to world-class life-science research. Too little of it becomes a company.

Ideas aren’t the missing piece. What’s often missing is the team around them: the researcher with the discovery, the engineer who can build it, the founder who has done it before, the investor who can back it. Those people rarely meet.
