This is a brand new History Hike in the Catskills, Roscoe, very close to Rt 17 in Sullivan County. Please make sure you understand where this is before signing.
We have permission to meet at the Famous Roscoe Diner. From there we’ll do a carpool to the trailhead. I’ll be asking for 3-4 volunteer drivers. Optional after hike bite at the Diner. Our way of saying thanks for allowing us to park there.
Suggested donation $5.00. Small group due to limited parking at the trailhead. Finish time is just a guess if you stay for the bite. Do not quote me, or about distance. All start waitlisted wt preference to long time regulars. I’ve scanned some pics below.
The hike: Stunning waterfall, diverse impressive and unique ruins. What were those ruins? Let’s try to figure that out! Two lakes. One sustained ascent. Nothing killer but some might call this smallish part of the event strenuous. Some brief off trail wt a few other short up’s n downs that some would call moderate. 50% otherwise downhill and easy. 6? miles. Lunch break and one other break for history investigation.
Bathrooms: At the meetup Diner. One Porto-o-John where we’ll break for lunch.
Liability waiver signature required. No guests, pets, early outs. If you’re on the waitlist you can’t just show up.
